Evaluation

Collaboration Pathways

Successful builders may be considered for one of the pathways below, depending on qualifications, funding availability, and applicable law. No pathway is guaranteed. All formal engagements require a separate written agreement signed before any work begins.

Level 1

Academic Internship

Available exclusively through accredited university partners. Participants receive academic credit for their work. Zoneium provides mentorship, data access, and defined infrastructure challenges. The experience must primarily benefit the participant, and no productive work may displace existing employees. A formal university partnership agreement and institutional confirmation of academic credit are required before work begins. Intellectual property rights are governed by a three-way written agreement between Zoneium, the university, and the participant prior to engagement.

Level 2

Cohort Program

Available through accredited university or non-profit partners. Participants work on defined infrastructure AI challenges with access to Zoneium mentorship and data resources. The cohort must be formally administered by the university or non-profit partner. No employment relationship is created between participants and Zoneium. Intellectual property rights are governed by a three-way written agreement between Zoneium, the partner institution, and each participant before the cohort begins.

Level 3

Paid Internship

A stipend-based, time-limited engagement available when funding permits. Must meet applicable U.S. Department of Labor and Canadian provincial internship standards. The participant is the primary beneficiary of the experience. Compensation, hours, scope, and deliverables are documented in a written agreement signed by both parties before work begins. All intellectual property created during the engagement is assigned to Zoneium under the terms of the written agreement.

Level 4
Equity Consideration
Future equity consideration may be discussed for certain roles after a formal evaluation. Any such arrangement requires a separate written agreement, independent legal review by the candidate, and full compliance with applicable U.S. and Canadian securities law. No equity is offered, promised, or implied by this website or by any verbal discussion prior to a signed agreement. Intellectual property assignment is a condition of any equity-based arrangement and must be explicitly documented in the written agreement.

Level 5

Revenue Share

A participant builds a defined product or feature for Zoneium. If and when that product generates commercial revenue, the participant receives a pre-agreed percentage of that revenue for a defined period. No payment is made until revenue is generated. All terms — percentage, revenue definition, payment schedule, and duration — are documented in a written agreement signed by both parties before work begins. All intellectual property created under this arrangement is assigned to Zoneium as a condition of the revenue share agreement.

Level 6

Part-Time Employment

Hourly or project-based employment with a formal written employment agreement. Compensation, hours, and scope are agreed in writing before work begins. Benefits and entitlements are provided in accordance with applicable U.S. federal, state, and Canadian provincial employment law. Available when funding permits. All intellectual property created in the course of employment is assigned to Zoneium under the terms of the written employment agreement.

Level 7

Contract / Freelance

A project-scoped independent contractor arrangement with deliverable-based compensation. A formal independent contractor agreement is required before work begins. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and benefits in accordance with applicable U.S. and Canadian law. No employment relationship is created. All intellectual property created under this arrangement must be explicitly assigned to Zoneium in the written contract. IP does not transfer automatically without this written assignment.

Level 8

Full-Time Employment

A salaried full-time position with a formal employment agreement. Compensation, benefits, and entitlements are provided in accordance with applicable U.S. federal, state, and Canadian provincial employment law. Full-time positions become available as the company secures funding and scales operations. All intellectual property created in the course of employment is assigned to Zoneium under the terms of the written employment agreement.

No engagement pathway is created, offered, or guaranteed by submitting an application or completing the builder challenge. All formal arrangements require a separate written agreement signed by both parties. Zoneium complies with applicable U.S. and Canadian employment, internship, and securities laws.

Your Work Is Yours

Zoneium will not use any submitted work without a separate written agreement signed by both parties. All work independently created by a candidate prior to a formal engagement remains the property of that candidate. Do not include proprietary, confidential, or third-party-licensed materials in your submission.

Zoneium is actively developing products in the infrastructure AI space. Many applicants submit ideas that address similar problems. The fact that a Zoneium product may resemble or overlap with a submitted concept does not indicate that the submission was used, relied upon, or incorporated. Similarity between a submitted concept and any future Zoneium product does not indicate that the submission was used, relied upon, or incorporated. No submission creates any confidentiality obligation on Zoneium with respect to general concepts or publicly available information.

Compensation Transparency

Zoneium is an early-stage company. Compensation, if any, will be explicitly stated in a written agreement before any work begins. No compensation, equity, or other benefit should be assumed or expected based on this website, any verbal discussion, or completion of the builder challenge. Zoneium does not offer volunteer arrangements. Any unpaid engagement must independently qualify under applicable U.S. or Canadian law.

Formal Engagement Terms

If you are formally engaged — through an employment agreement, internship agreement, contractor agreement, or other documented arrangement — intellectual property, confidentiality, and compensation terms will be governed by that written agreement.

Work Authorization

All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada. Zoneium does not sponsor immigration visas at this stage. Paid contractors and employees must hold valid work authorization at the time of engagement.

Compliance Commitment

Zoneium intends to structure all internship, contractor, and employment arrangements in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, including U.S. Department of Labor internship guidelines and relevant state employment statutes.

No Guaranteed Outcomes

Completing the builder challenge creates no legal obligation on Zoneium's part and does not constitute an offer of employment, internship, contract, equity, or any other arrangement. Evaluation is at Zoneium's sole discretion. Zoneium is not liable for time, costs, or resources invested in completing the challenge.

Note to Candidates: We strongly recommend that any candidate offered a formal arrangement — including any role referencing equity, compensation, or intellectual property — consult independent legal counsel before signing any agreement.
